Zvetco Biometrics releases new fingerprint reader

Orlando, FL (PRWEB) May 6, 2009 -- Best-in-class fingerprint authentication hardware manufacturer and network security solution provider Zvetco Biometrics today announced the FIPS-201 approved Verifi P6000 USB Fingerprint Reader. The Verifi P6000 is a logical addition to their P5000 product line, further expanding the capabilities of Zvetco's award-winning Verifi fingerprint readers. The VerifiP6000 provides increased grey-scale detail and contrast for superior image quality making it ideal for the most demanding large scale government projects. Certified to meet FIPS-201 standards and using UPEK's TouchChip TCS1 Fingerprint Sensor with Enhanced Image Mode (EIM) technology, the Verifi P6000 leverages the same award-winning silicon fingerprint technologies that have made UPEK and Zvetco the leading biometric suppliers in the world today.

"With the simple addition of Zvetco's P6000 to existing smart card users government can realize significantly increased security by verifying the identity of the card holders. Given that the biometric information is already stored on the PIV card, this makes for a logical next step in the evolution of their system and network security. This is particularly useful within the Federal, State and Local Government, PIV (Personal Identity Verification) and FRAC (First Responder Authentication Card) applications," said Zavi Cohen, CZvetco Biometrics EO of Zvetco Biometrics. "Moreover, Zvetco's new Verifi P6000 fingerprint reader is also suitable for large scale enterprise deployments where a premium is placed on the ability to enroll a wide variety of users. This technology complements FIPS-201 deployments with quick and accurate identification of an individual fingerprint, which enables us to fulfill the vision and directives of HSPD-12"

U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) approval will enable government-wide acquisition through GSA's Approved Products List (APL) for FIPS 201 implementations and achieves compliance with the image quality requirements for single finger capture devices used for the Personal Identity Verification (PIV) of Federal Employee and Contractors defined by FIPS 201 and mandated by Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-12).
The GSA FIPS 201 Approved Products List may be viewed at http://fips201ep.cio.gov/apl.php. With an Zvetco approval number of # 420.
