AMAG Pharmaceuticals is a biopharmaceutical company that utilizes its proprietary technology for the development and commercialization of a therapeutic iron compound to treat anemia and novel imaging agents to aid in the diagnosis of cancer and cardiovascular disease. As AMAG expanded the number of hosted environments in its infrastructure, the number of passwords required to access them grew as well. The average employee had to remember up to 9 different passwords, which was a burden to employees and resulted in a significant increase in help desk calls.
In its evaluation of SSO solutions, AMAG determined that with its simplified and appliance-based approach, Imprivata OneSign was the best fit for software as a service (SaaS) single sign-on. AMAG deployed the solution to 300 employees accessing between 9 and 15 hosted applications. Since deployment, the company has seen a 90% reduction in password reset calls to the help desk.
